Larry Middlestadt is an associate of the
Ontario College of Art and Design. He has been represented in
exhibitions both in Canada and internationally. His current series
of work is called ‘Time and Memory’.
“I felt the title ‘Time and Memory’ was
appropriate to this series as it most accurately describes my
painting process. The word ‘Time’ is used as a way of decribing both
the distance one has mentally when away from the scene that is the
subject of the work and how the process of painting takes on a life
of its own that must be followed.
The word ‘Memory’ is used as a way of
decribing the changes that occur emotionally and conceptually when
recalling the experience of being in the environment. I see the act
of painting this series as a way of holding in dynamic balance these
two realities.”
